I am planning to be at the meeting on Feb 25, it will be my first time. I am looking forward to see what the support group offers and a bit nervous about it at the same time.
What a great initiative to get this blog going. I've been part of NOVA's support group since 2005 too and have received so much from it: Valuable information about treatments, side effects and how to cope with this disease. The most englightening people I`ve ever met.
Hello beezou, Making the decision to come to the support group is a big leap in the right direction. Lis, who will be leading the group this month has a wealth of experience from many dimensions and she will make you feel at ease quickly. But I also have to sing the praises of the other members who participate regularly and have formed a sense of comraderie and support. I don't believe I have your co-ordinates; I can be reached at my e-mail peggybougie@hotmail.com.
I really appreciate the West Island Cancer Support Group. There is always something new to learn, to discuss, to share. I remember the first meeting in Fall '05. I looked around the room and saw so many lively, intelligent and healthy looking men and women. They reinforced my belief that cancer does not need to be a death sentence but can be managed, maintained. In my experience within this group, cancer can actually serve to illuminate and improve the quality of one's life by bringing out what is best and what is most important.
The Nova WICSG is a great support group, I've been a member since '05. Peggy is a gem too.
